Textbook and Readings

(1) Gazzaniga, M.S., Ivry, R.B., and Mangun, G.R. (2002)  2nd edition
Cognitive Neuroscience: The Biology of the Mind.   New York: W.W. Norton.

(2) Assigned readings are announced each week.  Generally, pdf files or some other electronic file will be posted on the webpage.  You should print these papers yourself and bring them to class with you.


There are two quizzes, one group project, one perception/phenomenonlogy paper and one final paper. There are also homework assignments peppered throughout the semester.

Quizzes:The quizzes focus on material from the neuroscience section of the course. They cover material from both the lecture and the book.

Grading Breakdown:

  • Quiz 1 : 10%
  • Quiz 2 : 10%
  • Machine Vision Group Project: 15%
  • Perception Paper : 15%
  • Homework Assignments: 5%
  • Participation: 5%
  • Final Project: 40%

If you know you will miss a class, let me know ahead of time. If you know you will be late with an assignment, send me an email.

The final paper will be due on the day we would ordinarily have a final exam.
